Safeguarding Personal Information

Kamei Corporation ("Company") takes appropriate measures to safeguard the personal information of our website visitors. In this policy we explain how we will treat your personal information.

We are responsible for protecting the personal data of visitors to our website. To fulfill this responsibility, we have designed and established a system to secure this information and we endeavor to implement, maintain, and improve this system on an ongoing basis.

(1) Acquisition of personal information

The Company provides all customers, trading partners, and other parties who furnish the Company with personal information ("Information Owners") with advance disclosure of the use of such personal information ("Purposes of Use") by the Company.

Purposes of Use
  • Introduction of the Company's various products and services and provision of various kinds of information
  • Marketing activities including face-to-face sales by employees of the Company
  • Maintenance and administration of contracts concluded with the Company
  • Other operations related or incidental to the insurance business

Provided, however, that in the following cases the disclosure of the Purposes of Use might be omitted.

  • When personal information is provided in a face-to-face meeting or through an exchange of business cards, etc., with a sales person of the Company
  • When personal information is provided to the Company through business cards, etc., presented at events, fairs, or seminars, etc.

In the above cases, the Company might use obtained personal information within the scope of the Purposes of Use described above, unless the use is denied by the Information Owner.

(2) Management of personal information

In order to prevent unauthorized disclosure, tampering, loss, and the use of personal information outside the Purposes of Use, the Company exercises rigorous personal information management in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, directives, and guidelines as well as internal regulations of the Company, in an environment of appropriate security measures. Moreover, the Company provides requisite education, training, and information activities for employees concerning the appropriate handling of personal information.

(3) Collecting of personal information

The Company collects personal information required by the type of business of the Company needed for the insurance policy conclusion, maintenance, administration, provision of product information and services of the Company, such as the Information Owner's address, name, date of birth, sex, occupation, telephone number, health status, and personal interests, among other things.

(4) Use of personal information

The Company will not use personal information outside the stated Purposes of Use except in the following cases.

  • When the Information Owner has consented
  • When the use occurs in a manner that renders the Information Owner not identifiable (e.g., statistical materials)
  • When the use outside the Purposes of Use is permitted under relevant laws and regulations or policies or guidelines
  • When considered necessary for the benefit of the Information Owner or the public interest
  • When re-insurance procedures for the purposes of insurance operations are performed
  • When considered necessary for the sound operations of insurance regulations, e.g., such as the registration of an Information Owner's insurance policy details under regulations established and operated by the insurance industry

(5) Disclosure of personal information to third parties

The Company will not disclose personal information to any third party except in the following cases.

  • When the Information Owner has consented
  • When the use occurs in a manner that renders the Information Owner not identifiable (e.g., statistical materials)
  • When the use outside the Purposes of Use is permitted under relevant laws and regulations or policies or guidelines

(6) Inquiries concerning personal information

When Information Owners seek disclosure, amendment, or correction, etc., of their personal information held with the Company and to that end contact the department, section, or staff member to whom personal information was provided (if the information was provided via the website of the Company, the contact indicated on the website), the Company will promptly respond to such request in accordance with the Company's prescribed procedures. Information Owners are reminded that the Company might on such occasions require verification of the inquiring Information Owner's identity in order to prevent the illegitimate acquisition of personal information or tampering, etc., by a third party.

(7) Submission of opinions and wishes

The Company is permitted to use at its discretion the opinions, wishes, and propositions, etc., that an Information Owner submits to the Company, unless restricted by the Purposes of Use. Provided, however, that the prior consent of the Information Owner must be obtained if an announcement or disclosure to a third party will be made of the submission in a format rendering the submitting Information Owner identifiable.

(8) Compliance with relevant laws and regulations, etc.

The Company observes the laws, regulations, and internal rules established by the Company applicable to the handling of personal information.
